Christmas at Waddesdon is paused for 2026 during conservation work and returns in 2027. On instead: a 4 to 6 December makers fair and November dusk openings.
There is no Christmas at Waddesdon in 2026. Waddesdon Manor says its Christmas event “will take a pause in 2026 while important Conservation in Action projects take place across the estate”, and that it returns in 2027 as part of the house’s 150th anniversary celebrations (Waddesdon Manor, tickets and prices). That means no Christmas light trail, no decorated house and no month-long Christmas Fair this year.

Why it is paused
The manor is part-way through two big pieces of work. The National Trust and the Rothschild Foundation are replacing the manor’s old gas boilers with what Waddesdon calls the National Trust’s largest ever ground source heat pump system, and the stone front of the house is being conserved ahead of the 150th anniversary. The pediment work needs a large scaffold to the roofline, and Waddesdon warns that views of the manor are affected while it goes on (Waddesdon Manor, Conservation in Action).
For comparison, last year’s Christmas at Waddesdon ran from 22 November 2025 to 4 January 2026, Wednesday to Sunday plus four extra days in Christmas week, from noon to 7pm with late openings on Saturdays. It had a light show on the manor, decorated rooms, a food village and a Christmas Fair that ran to 14 December (Waddesdon Manor, archived November 2025).

Artists and Makers Fair, 4 to 6 December
Waddesdon’s Artists and Makers Fair is the nearest thing to a Christmas market at the manor this year. It is a three-day fair of 25 local artists, designers and makers selling handmade gifts, art, ceramics, jewellery, textiles and homeware in the Dairy, with a pop-up restaurant and guided tastings of Rothschild wines and ports.
Tickets start at £10, and that covers the fair, the shuttle bus from the car park to the Dairy, grounds and house admission and premium parking. VIP tickets add a brunch or an afternoon tea. The Dairy is step-free, and Blue Badge parking there has to be booked in advance.
Standing with Giants, 6 to 29 November
The For Your Tomorrow installation by Standing with Giants is a field of life-size silhouettes remembering the 1,476 people who died under British command on D-Day. Across November, Waddesdon opens the grounds outside normal hours to see it at dusk and at dawn.
The twilight openings include a performance on the South Terrace each evening:

Opening times and prices
Waddesdon is open Wednesday to Sunday plus bank holiday Mondays. The grounds open 10am to 5pm with last entry at 4pm, and the house noon to 4.30pm, from 11am at weekends (Waddesdon Manor, plan your visit).

National Trust, Art Fund and Historic Houses members get in free. RHS members get free grounds entry and pay £13 for the house. People living in Waddesdon, Westcott and Upper Winchendon get in free with photo ID showing their address. Grounds tickets are half price from 7 to 10 October because of disruption on site.
Parking is free, with more than 1,000 spaces. The shuttle bus from the car park to the house costs £2.50 for adults and £1.50 for children for the day, members included, or it is a 20 to 25 minute walk with some steep sections (Waddesdon Manor FAQs).
