Remembrance Sunday is 8 November 2026. In Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire Council holds the county town’s wreath-laying service at the war memorial in Market Square. Last year it started at 10.45am, and the council has not yet announced this year’s arrangements. Buckingham’s Royal British Legion parade is already confirmed for the same morning.

Aylesbury, Market Square

Buckinghamshire Council’s 2025 service (Buckinghamshire Council, 4 November 2025) started at 10.45am on Sunday 9 November in Market Square. The Lord-Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, the Mayor of Aylesbury, the MP for Aylesbury and the Royal British Legion attended, with military and uniformed groups taking part. The order of service was:

  • the Exhortation and the Kohima epitaph, read by the president of the Aylesbury branch of the Royal British Legion
  • the Last Post, then the two-minute silence
  • Reveille, followed by hymns and readings

The council says it continues “the tradition of holding a Remembrance Day wreath-laying service in Aylesbury, the county town”, and everyone is welcome. Last year the announcement came five days before, on 4 November, so expect the 2026 details in the first days of November.

The Mayor’s civic service at St Mary’s

Aylesbury Town Council’s Mayor holds a separate civic Remembrance service at St Mary’s Church in the old town, with Aylesbury Concert Band and the Aylesbury Consort of Voices. In 2025 it was on Thursday 6 November at 7.30pm, seated by 7.15pm, with a collection for the Aylesbury branch of the Royal British Legion and for the church (Aylesbury Town Council). In 2024 it was on Thursday 7 November (Aylesbury Town Council). On that pattern the 2026 service would fall on Thursday 5 November, but the town council has not yet listed it.

Buckingham, Sunday 8 November

Buckingham Town Council’s events calendar confirms the Buckingham Remembrance Day Parade on Sunday 8 November 2026, organised by the Royal British Legion (Buckingham Town Council). The parade forms up on Market Hill, walks through the town centre towards Castle Street and ends at St Peter and St Paul’s Church, where the war memorial is.

A rolling road closure moves with the parade. It is lifted while the service takes place at the church and goes back on for the march back to Market Hill, though diversions stay in place throughout. The council asks drivers to avoid the town centre if they can.

The council has not yet given this year’s timings. In 2024 the parade left Market Hill at 10.30am, a no-parking order and closures ran from 7am to noon on Castle Hill, Castle Street, Market Square, Market Hill, West Street as far as Western Avenue, and Bridge Street, and a big screen outside the church showed the service to people who could not get in (Buckingham Town Council, 1 November 2024).

Standing with Giants at Waddesdon

Through November, Waddesdon Manor has the For Your Tomorrow installation by Standing with Giants, life-size silhouettes remembering the 1,476 people who died under British command on D-Day. There are dawn openings from 8 to 29 November and dusk openings every Friday and Saturday from 6 to 28 November, from £15, with bands and choirs on the South Terrace in the evenings (Waddesdon Manor).
