No trains ran at Aylesbury on Boxing Day 2025 and the last Christmas Eve train left Marylebone at 21.15. The 2026 times are not out yet: last year's pattern.
Chiltern Railways has not yet published its Christmas 2026 timetable for Aylesbury, Aylesbury Vale Parkway, Stoke Mandeville or Wendover. Last year its first day-by-day notices went up in August and the rest were updated on 24 October, so the 2026 detail should appear within a month. Until then, last year’s pattern is the best guide: an early finish on Christmas Eve, no trains at all on Christmas Day or at Aylesbury on Boxing Day, and most of the week after on a shuttle to Amersham.
The quick answer
- Christmas Eve 2025: the last train home was the 21.15 from Marylebone via High Wycombe. The last one via Amersham left at 20.57 for Aylesbury Vale Parkway.
- Boxing Day 2025: no trains at Aylesbury. Chiltern ran only Marylebone to Oxford Parkway, and the nearest station with a service was Haddenham and Thame Parkway.
- 27 December to 3 January: no through trains to Marylebone via Amersham on most days last year. Change to the Metropolitan line at Amersham.

The 27 and 28 December closure was for removing HS2 plant at Wendover. The Amersham shuttle ran alongside a closure of the West Coast main line between Euston and Birmingham, when Chiltern ran longer and extra trains to Birmingham instead.
If you are heading into London on the Amersham line that week, the practical route last year was the Chiltern shuttle to Amersham and then the Metropolitan line to Baker Street. The High Wycombe line kept running to Marylebone.
What is already booked for December 2026
National Rail’s list of planned engineering work runs to 19 December 2026 and has one Aylesbury closure in December: on Sunday 13 December, no trains run between Marylebone and Aylesbury Vale Parkway via Amersham, or between Princes Risborough and Aylesbury, until 2pm. Buses replace trains from Amersham and from Princes Risborough (National Rail). That is the same day as Carolfest at St Mary’s Church. Nothing is yet listed for Christmas week itself.
Also worth knowing before then: buses replace trains between Princes Risborough and Aylesbury on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October (National Rail). Normal weekday journey times and fares are on our Aylesbury train times to London page.
Parking over Christmas
Last December Buckinghamshire Council made its car parks free after 10am on Saturday 13 and Saturday 20 December. In Aylesbury that covered Coopers Yard, Exchange Street, Friarscroft, Hale Street, Upper Hundreds, Walton Green, Walton Street, Waterside levels 2 and 3, Waterside North, Whitehall Street and Friars Square, plus Cornwall’s Meadow in Buckingham, Wendover Library, and Greyhound Lane in Winslow, which Winslow Town Council paid for (Buckinghamshire Council, archived 8 December 2025). The council has not announced its 2026 dates, and last year’s page has since been taken down.
The Christmas lights switch-on on Sunday 22 November closes Market Square and Kingsbury for the day. Charges and car park locations for the rest of the year are on our parking in Aylesbury page, and road closures on our roadworks page.
Buses and bins
We have not found a published Christmas timetable for Aylesbury’s bus operators yet; we will add one when they appear. Bin collection changes for the bank holidays are on our Aylesbury Christmas bin collections page.

- Chiltern’s Christmas 2026 notices, including the Christmas Eve last trains and whether Boxing Day again skips Aylesbury. Last year they were finalised on 24 October 2025.
- Any engineering work between 24 December and 3 January, which National Rail’s list does not yet cover.
- Free parking days for December 2026 from Buckinghamshire Council.
